Ethics Committee
It is set up on an Assembly decision at the beginning of every ordinary session. It is chaired by one of the two deputy speakers and includes chairmen of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Affairs, the Committee on Religious, Social and Wakf Affairs, the Committee of Proposals and Complaints. It also includes as members five General Committee members, two of whom belong to opposition parties parliamentary bodies and independents plus five MPS selected by lot casting, provided one of them is a lady.
The Ethics Committee discusses the members’ violations of religious, moral or social values as well as the fundamental political and economic principles of the Egyptian society. It also penalizes MPS found guilty with any of the aforementioned violations consistently with the rules of procedure and the fourth chapter of the second unit of the rules of procedures discuses all the rules which organize the Ethics Committee
