The People's Assembly Speaker and his two deputy speakers are elected at the first meeting of every ordinary session, and stay in office since then until the end of the day prior to the opening of the following ordinary session.
The Speaker represents and speaks on behalf of the Assembly, maintains its order and security, protects its integrity and its members , generally supervises all its activities, opens, chairs and adjourns sittings, and conducts debates and voting. He is also entitled to express his opinion on any matter from the members seats, and does not take the floor unless the debate is over . In the absence of the Speaker, his deputies preside over the sittings rotatively. In case both deputies are absent, the oldest member chairs the sitting . During his absence, the Speaker may authorize either one or both deputies to replace him running the parliamentary business
